A book to make Christchurch proud

I have just had a sneak preview of a new book, Christchurch: The Transitional City Pt IV before it is delivered to our libraries.

As we are all too well aware, Christchurch has seen huge changes over the last 18 or so months and although most of these have been difficult and at times extremely painful to deal with, this book shows another side – a Christchurch that is full of innovation and excitement.

Many, if not all, of the transitional projects that we may have seen, driven past, and participated in are included. Some I had forgotten and am pleasantly reminded of the “Think differently book exchange”, others are dear to my heart like the temporary new libraries. Many of the murals and impromptu art has been photographed as well as as well as poetry, dance and music,  pop up stores and venues.

You can’t help but feel moved and impressed by all ordinary and the not so ordinary people that have been involved in these projects. Our Flickr page is another great place to go to if you want to marvel at all that has been achieved.
