Anyone for golf? Mrs Stead would approve

PhotoShe has the most unlikely hat for a day on the fairway, but Mrs Stead, shown here competing in an Easter tournament at Shirley in 1908, seems to have all the steely determination and focus that golf demands. Either that, or someone slow in front of her is about to get a hurry up.

If she was here today,  I’m sure she’d be keen to see the New Zealand Women’s Open field take on the Pegasus Golf Course, just north of Christchurch later this week. If it’s time to get out and  improve your swing, check out the great resources at your library.
