RIP John Goodliffe. Not only did this man patiently teach me Russian, however badly I mangled it, he always encouraged me to write. The university library has a wonderful collection of Russian material, due in no small part to his years of effort. He also edited a book about the history of St Christopher’s in Avonhead, his local parish.
Was Mr Wrasskey Teaching then? He taught Russian Literature, it was one of those crazy fillers you do to flesh a rather tired looking BA, and turned out to be one of my favourite courses.
Indeed – Henry Wrassky also corrected my Russian 🙂 Along with Marina Page and other long-suffering tutors…
