Could You Be Any Longer?

When I saw this title in a post on Ben McIntyre’s blog on Times Online I thought – it must be a joke… but hey it’s not and Christchurch City Libraries have seven copies!

Is this the longest title ever? – other classic examples welcome.

Crikey! By my reckoning that title’s got – 50 words, 2 colons, 2 commas, a dash, and a set of parentheses. Would that the average text message had as much punctuation.

I’d hate to come across that one in a round of charades, that’s for sure.

My favourite for charades: “And to My Nephew Albert I Leave the Island What I Won Off Fatty Hagan in a Poker Game” by David Forrest

Then there’s the famous play “The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.”
