Smock debate

SmocksToday’s Press featured Christchurch City Librarians in smocks. These floral delights (made from a  William Morris print material by Sanderson) date from the 1960s when they formed part of a librarian’s working apparel.

Is there a role for these smocks in the William Morris exhibition due to visit the Christchurch Art Gallery next year? Could the gallery staff wear them?

Back in the day, while attending the UC, i got an A- for an essay on William Morris. Needless to say it was my best mark, eva, but how cool would it have been to know then that in about 20 years i’d be looking simply stunning in a Morris number! Rock the smock.

My sister reminded me that we used to have that print (in green) as the wallpaper in our bathroom.
