Helen Lowe is about to launch her first novel, Thornspell. The free launch event will be held this Saturday at 11am Fendalton Library . Thornspell is the first in a series of fantasy books that will be released across the United States, one of the most difficult markets in the world to get a break in – especially for a first novel. You can read a full interview on The Pulse – the library’s young adult website. If you have the chance, get down to Fendalton Library this weekend and take the family so you can say you met the author before she was world famous!
To find out more about the book, go to www.thornspell.info.
- 20 September 2008, 11:00am – 12:00am at Fendalton Library, Christchurch, NZ
- Event cost is FREE, bookings not required

I went along to the book launch and Helen was great reading aloud from her book – can’t wait to read the book now
And she is also writing adult material as well – a quartet to be published in 2010.
Am still agog, and thrilled for Helen, that an NZ author is having her debut novel published by a huge US publisher, in hardback and to great promotional acclaim as well. What a coup!
